THE RANT PAGE
What goes on in my twisted head...
Even though most of the mind is concerned with passages from Puccini, Mozart, and what I'm eating next, I often turn to the state of affairs the Shelby/Dodge community, and motorsports in general (or detail) is in. I 've been published in the MW and Chicagoland newsletters, but this is my chance to just spout off on whatever... So fasten your seatbelts, place your hands in the 3 and 9 position, lower the middle finger, and... HERE WE GO!!!

I'm leaving up the rant to the left because that's part of why I left the fold, as it were. When you're trying to deal with people who just don't have your interests, you find that you have nothing to talk about. And that gets very old when it comes to cars.
I wish the Chicago club well - it's a good group if you want your car to go fast - albeit in a straight line. :)
The Midwest club shares more of my interests - social events, working with the other clubs in the Kansas City area, and encompassing ALL forms of racing. When fortune smiles again my way, perhaps I'll get back into the fold. But it will be starting with a well-cared for car, not an 'orphan,' which the Lancer and the 'vert definitely were.
So in the immortal words of Eric Cartman,
"Screw you guys - I'm goin' hommmme."

It's possible to be a geek and a car nut...
...I think a lot of gearheads forget that. Just because we didn't grow up inhaling nitromethane and didn't try to break the land speed record with the family station wagon doesn't mean our opinion has no validity. There are a few people in the local club that look down at those of us who can't change a transmission in a day; that have to take a car to a shop to have the head gasket replaced. We weren't born with a Craftsman socket wrench in our hand. We actually show up to events in something other than a speed shop t-shirt. For this we are looked upon with disdain.
Know what? Screw you. Forgive me for being blunt, but people start things at different levels in their lives, and decide just how far they want to go. I'm never going to be the mechanic other people are, and saying that, I know some people who think I spend my free time under the hood of a car, doing God-knows-what in their mind. To some, I'm a Mr. fix-it. To others, I'm a complete geek. We're all going to have more knowledge than others, and some will know less. I know I know less than you - that's why I ask the sometimes stupid questions. I WANT to learn.
But before you make a quick decision on my abilities, you try to get up on stage and sing before a crowd of 3,000 people some day. Tough man with your drag car...
